Chapter 5. Tutorial: Sell a Membership, From Paddle to Protected Content
Build a complete membership step by step: a group and an access level, a product with a yearly and a monthly price, pages that list and sell it, an article only members can read, and a tested purchase in the sandbox from start to end.
In this tutorial you sell a “Gold Membership”. Members can read articles in a “Members” category; everyone else sees a teaser with the price and a link to buy. Members can pay once for a year, or monthly with automatic renewal.
Before you start, install PaddleSubs and connect it to a Paddle sandbox account, with webhooks and the scheduled tasks set up, as described in Chapter 2, Installation, Updates, and Support.
Step 1: Create the Group and the Access Level
Access in Joomla comes from user groups, and what a group can see comes from access levels. Create one of each for your members.

Go to → , click , and create a group called
Gold Memberswith Registered as its parent. -
Go to → , click , call it
Gold, and tick Gold Members and Super Users.
Anything with the Gold access level is now visible only to members, and to you.
