Discount Settings
In → → , open a discount. Discounts are Paddle discounts: everything here is kept in Paddle.
- Description
-
A name for the discount. Paddle may show it to the customer in the checkout.
- Discount Type and its amount
-
Percentage off, a fixed Amount off the total, or an Amount per unit off each unit bought, with its currency. A new discount starts as a Percentage.
In PaddleSubs every purchase is one unit of one price (the section called “Price Settings”), so Amount per unit takes off exactly as much as Amount. Paddle calls this type "flat per seat", but its seats are units of quantity, not the seats of a license: a license for several sites is still one unit, so a discount of 10 per unit takes 10 off it, whatever its Sites per purchase. To discount by the number of sites, use a Percentage, or set the Amount for the whole license.
An Amount or Amount per unit is in its currency only: Paddle applies it only to checkouts in that same currency. A customer whose checkout Paddle shows in another currency can't use it: Paddle refuses an automatic discount of this kind, and their checkout opens again at the normal price, with a note saying the discount was removed (the section called “Reward Existing Customers Automatically”). If you sell in more than one currency, use a Percentage.
PaddleSubs warns you when you open or save a discount of a fixed amount that may meet another currency: when a price it applies to (every price, unless Restrict To says otherwise) is charged in another currency, including a country-specific price set in Paddle, or when Local currencies at checkout is on. The warning doesn't stop you saving.
