Chapter 11. Settings Reference

Price Settings

In the product editor, click a price or Add Price. Save Price writes it to Paddle.

Every purchase is one unit of one price. PaddleSubs saves each price to Paddle with a quantity of exactly 1, and the checkout always opens for one, so a customer can't buy several at once; a customer who wants more buys again. A license for several sites comes from the product's Sites per purchase, not from a quantity.

Name

Displayed at checkout and on invoices, and as the label of the price on your product page. Typically says how often it bills: Monthly, Yearly, Lifetime. A name of just 0 is refused when you save.

Default: Empty
Kept: Paddle
Description

An internal description, not shown to customers. Used as the price's label when it has no name.

Default: Empty
Kept: Paddle
Base Price *

The amount, and its currency. Paddle shows visitors in other countries an equivalent in their currency.

Default: USD
Kept: Paddle
Billing Type

Recurring (billed every Billing Cycle), Non-Recurring (paid once for the Expiry Period), Lifetime (paid once, never ends) or Fixed Date (paid once, until Expires On).

Default: Non-Recurring
Kept: Both (custom data for one-time prices)
Billing Cycle

For a recurring price: how often Paddle charges, as a number of days, weeks, months or years. Each charge buys access for one cycle.

Default: Every year
Kept: Paddle
Trial Period

For a recurring price: a period at the start of each new Paddle subscription before the Base Price is charged. The trial is free unless it has a Trial Price. Buying the price gives access for the trial period; each renewal after it gives a Billing Cycle. Leave the number empty for no trial; emptying it removes the trial from Paddle when you save.

Default: None
Kept: Paddle

The trial's transaction and the access it grants have not yet been checked in the sandbox (AGENTS.md, "Needs the sandbox", item 4; demo-paddlesubs TEST-PLAN.md, tests 22a-22j). Resolve this remark once they have.

Trial Price

For a recurring price with a Trial Period: what the customer pays for the trial, such as an introductory price for the first year. Leave it empty, or 0, for a free trial. It is in the Base Price's currency. Prices for other countries are set on the price in Paddle; PaddleSubs keeps them when you save. A paid trial always asks for a payment method.

Default: None (a free trial)
Kept: Paddle
Expiry Period

For a Non-Recurring price: how long the access lasts.

Default: 1 year
Kept: Both (custom data)
Expires On

For a Fixed Date price: the date access ends, whenever it is bought.

Default: None
Kept: Both (custom data)
Tax Mode

Whether the amount Includes Tax or Excludes Tax, follows your Paddle Account Default, or depends on the Customer's Location, as Paddle decides for the country of the checkout.

Default: Account Default
Kept: Paddle
Type and Status

As for products: Standard or Custom, and Active or Archived. Only active standard prices are offered on your site. A custom price can belong to a standard product: the product's page then shows only its standard prices, and you sell the custom one with a payment link or an invoice.

Default: Standard, Active
Kept: Paddle; the type on your site too
