Chapter 3. Getting Started

Bring In What's Already in Paddle

If you have used your Paddle account before, PaddleSubs picks up what is already there:

  • Opening Products or Discounts reads them from Paddle and adds any your site doesn't know yet. Products made in Paddle's own dashboard arrive with no category, no level and no user groups, visible to the Public access level; edit each one in PaddleSubs to give it a category and groups.

  • On the Access Subscriptions page, Sync from Paddle fetches the products, customers and transactions your site doesn't have, and connects each customer to a Joomla account by email address.

Products and prices you created with PaddleSubs on another site keep their settings: PaddleSubs stores the category, level, purchase type and user groups in each Paddle product's custom data, and reads them back, creating categories and levels that don't exist yet. Levels themselves are not Paddle things, though: a level created this way has only its name, so set its groups again on the new site.

Discounts keep their settings the same way, including whether they apply automatically. Opening Discounts also brings in their Paddle discount groups, which is how PaddleSubs tells its automatic discounts apart, and updates the group of each discount it already knows when it was changed in Paddle.
