Chapter 7. Importing From Another Subscription System

Step 3: Decide What Each Price Becomes

Every access row is imported as access to one of your prices, so each price of the old system that has access (in Akeeba Subscriptions, each subscription level) needs a price in PaddleSubs. The wizard syncs your Paddle catalog first, then lists each price In the source, named by its product and price, with how many Access rows it has and what it Becomes:

An existing price

The access becomes access to a price you already have.

Create a new price (the default)

A new product and price are created, in Paddle and in PaddleSubs, from the old price. Check and change the Product and Price name, the Amount, the Currency (one of those Paddle takes), the Tax category, and the Billing Type, as on a price's edit page: Recurring with its Billing Cycle, Non-Recurring with its Expiry Period, Lifetime, or Fixed Date with the date it Expires On. A period is a number of days, weeks, months or years. Set the price's other options, such as a trial period, on its edit page after the import. Choose the Category of the new product from PaddleSubs' product categories; it is Uncategorised unless you choose another. A product that already exists keeps its category. Prices with the same product name become prices of one product. A source that keeps its amounts elsewhere, such as another PaddleSubs site (amounts are kept in Paddle), leaves the amount empty for you to enter.

Leave this access out

Access to this price is not imported. For a source that has prices of both Paddle environments, such as another PaddleSubs site that was tested in the sandbox, leave out the prices of the environment you are not moving.

Caution

Paddle only accepts a Tax category that is approved in your Paddle account. Standard digital goods is approved for everyone; ask Paddle to approve any other before you choose it, or creating the product is refused.

Also on this step:

Name for this source

Importing again with the same name updates what was imported before instead of creating it twice. Keep the suggested name unless you are importing two separate old sites.

Create accounts for customers who do not have one here

A customer whose email address matches exactly one Joomla account on this site is attached to it. Others get a new account, with their old username, name, password and registration date, unless you untick this.
