Chapter 11. Settings Reference

Product Settings

In Components → PaddleSubs → Products, open a product. Saving writes it to Paddle too.

Name

The product's name, shown on your pages, in the checkout, on invoices and in emails. A name of just 0 is refused when you save.

Default: Required
Kept: Both
Slug/Alias

A short, unique name for the product, used in its web address and to name it in content tags such as {psprice gold-membership}. Leave it empty to make one from the name, as Joomla does for an article's alias; whatever you type is turned into lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens when you save. No two products can have the same slug, in either environment.

Default: Made from the name
Kept: Your site
Short Description

Shown under the name on your pages and in the checkout. A description of just 0 is refused when you save.

Default: Required
Kept: Paddle
Access

The Joomla access level allowed to see the product on your site. Products a visitor can't see aren't listed, and their page can't be opened. Use it for products only some customers may buy, such as an upgrade for existing members.

Default: Public
Kept: Both (custom data, by name)
Category

The product category it is listed in.

Default: Required
Kept: Both (custom data, with its parents)
Purchase Type

What a purchase grants, and what a second purchase does: Access: another purchase adds time (stacking) (a second purchase continues where current access ends), Access: every purchase starts now or Licenses per site (every purchase is a license with seats, set up on the License Policy tab).

Default: Access: another purchase adds time (stacking)
Kept: Both (custom data)
Level

The level the product belongs to, if any. The product grants the level's groups as well as its own.

Default: None
Kept: Both (custom data, by name)
Image

A picture of the product, for the product cards and the product page on your site and for Paddle's checkout. Choose one from the media manager or enter a full address. PaddleSubs sends Paddle the full address of an image on your site, so the site must be reachable from the internet, over HTTPS, for Paddle's checkout to show it.

Use a square image of at least 600 × 600 pixels, as Paddle recommends. Your site shows product images in a square frame, cropped to fit, so an image of another shape loses its edges but the cards still line up. Nothing stops you saving another size.

Default: None
Kept: Paddle
Status (Paddle tab)

Active products can be bought; Archived ones can't, and aren't listed on your site. Existing customers keep their access.

Default: Active
Kept: Paddle
Type (Paddle tab)

Standard for products in your catalog. Custom for a product made for one deal: Paddle leaves it out of its catalog, and your site never shows it. You sell it with a payment link or an invoice, and its purchases are granted like any other.

Default: Standard
Kept: Paddle and your site
Tax Category (Paddle tab)

What kind of product it is for tax purposes, such as Standard digital goods, SaaS, eBooks or Training services. Paddle charges tax by it. Selected category must be approved in Paddle Billing before use.

Default: Standard
Kept: Paddle
Add To User Groups (Actions tab)

Groups added to the customer when an Access Subscription to the product starts. Changing it needs the Assign user groups permission. Groups of Super Users aren't offered.

Default: None
Kept: Both (custom data)
Remove From User Groups (Actions tab)

Groups taken away when an Access Subscription to the product ends, unless another active Access Subscription of the customer's still grants them. Put a group in both lists for access that lasts only while paid.

Default: None
Kept: Both (custom data)

License Policy

On the product's License Policy tab. They are used only when Purchase Type is Licenses per site, and are kept for the product otherwise. Kept on your site and in the product's custom data.

Sites per purchase

How many sites one purchase covers: each license gets this many seats. Use it to sell a license for several sites at one price. A change applies to new purchases at once, and to an existing license when it is next renewed.

Default: 1
Kept: Both (custom data)
Subdomains share the seat

If yes, a site is its registrable domain, so www.example.com and staging.example.com use one seat. If no, each host name is a separate site.

Default: Yes
Kept: Both (custom data)
Development sites

What to do with localhost, IP addresses and names ending in .local, .test and the like: Allowed, use no seat or Refused.

Default: Allowed, use no seat
Kept: Both (custom data)
Free changes after activation (hours)

For this long after a license's first activation, moving it to another site is free and allowed at any time, to correct a mistake.

Default: 48
Kept: Both (custom data)
Changes allowed

How many times a license may move to a site it has not been used on before, in the change period.

Default: 2
Kept: Both (custom data)
Change period (days)

The rolling period the changes allowed are counted over.

Default: 365
Kept: Both (custom data)
Minimum binding (days)

How long a site stays bound before the customer, or the API, can release it. Administrators can release at any time.

Default: 30
Kept: Both (custom data)
Reserved after expiry (days)

How long the sites of an expired license stay reserved to it, so a late renewal gets them back.

Default: 30
Kept: Both (custom data)
