| Joomla | Joomla 5.4 or newer, including Joomla 6. |
| PHP | PHP 8.2 or newer, with the curl, json and
openssl extensions, which almost every host enables. If you sell
licensed products, the intl extension lets PaddleSubs read site
addresses written in other alphabets. |
| Database | MySQL or MariaDB. Other databases Joomla supports, such as PostgreSQL, are not
supported. |
| HTTPS | Your site must be reachable over HTTPS from the internet, so that Paddle can send
webhooks to it. A site that only runs on your own computer can't receive them. |
| Outgoing connections | Your server must be able to connect to Paddle's API over HTTPS. Some hosts block
outgoing connections until you ask them not to. |
| Paddle | A Paddle Billing account. Start with a free sandbox account for testing; you need a live
account, approved by Paddle, before you can take real payments. |
| Scheduled tasks | Joomla's Scheduler, which is part of Joomla, and ideally a CRON job on your server that
runs it every minute. |
| Email | Joomla's mail settings must be able to send email, for purchase confirmations, expiry
reminders and new account messages. |
