These terms cover your use of paddlesubs.com and your purchases of PaddleSubs. Please read them before you buy.

About us

paddlesubs.com is run by Samuel Marshall, trading as PaddleSubs, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). You can reach us through the contact form or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

PaddleSubs is an independent product. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Paddle. "Paddle" is a trademark of its owner and is used here only to name the platform PaddleSubs works with.

Ordering through Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders: it takes your payment, charges sales tax where it applies, issues your invoices and processes refunds. When you buy, you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms. Questions about a payment, an invoice or a charge can go to Paddle at paddle.net; questions about PaddleSubs itself come to us.

What you buy

A purchase gives you, for the period shown at checkout:

  • a license for the number of sites shown at checkout, which you assign to your sites by activating them;
  • downloads and updates of PaddleSubs released during that period, through your account and your Download ID;
  • support through support tickets for your licensed sites.

Each purchase is recorded on your account as an Access Subscription for that period. When it ends, you keep PaddleSubs installed and working, but updates and support stop for the sites on that license until you renew. Nothing in PaddleSubs is disabled for want of a license.

You may move a license from one site to another, within the limits shown on your account. Don't share your Download ID or account with people outside your organisation; we may suspend a Download ID that is used for sites it doesn't cover.

The software license

PaddleSubs is free software, released under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later. The GPL, not these terms, governs what you may do with the code. What you pay us for is access to our downloads, updates and support, as described above. Our name and logo are not covered by the GPL: please don't use them for your own copies or products without our permission.

Subscriptions and renewals

If you bought a Subscription (a purchase that renews automatically), Paddle charges your payment method at the start of each new period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Billing page of your account, or through Paddle; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Prices for renewals are the ones shown at checkout unless we tell you about a change before the renewal it applies to.

Refunds

You can have a full refund within 30 days of any purchase or renewal, without giving a reason. The details are in our Refund Policy.

Your account

Keep your login details safe and the details on your account accurate. You are responsible for what is done with your account. We may suspend or close an account that is used to break these terms, abuse our services or harm others; if we do, and you paid for a period that hasn't ended, we will refund what is left of it.

Demo sites

A demo is free, for evaluating PaddleSubs. It is a temporary site that lasts 120 minutes and is then deleted with everything in it. Use it with a Paddle Sandbox account only, and don't enter real customer, card or personal data. We may limit how many demos you start, refuse demos that look like abuse, and end a demo early if needed.

Using this website

You may use paddlesubs.com and its documentation to learn about, buy and use PaddleSubs. Please don't try to disrupt the site, get into accounts or areas that aren't yours, or download from it automatically in bulk. The text, design and images of this website are ours, except where marked otherwise, and may not be republished without our permission (the software is under the GPL, as above).

Warranty

We work to make PaddleSubs reliable, and we fix bugs reported through support. Beyond the guarantees the law gives you and our refund policy, PaddleSubs is provided as it is, as the GPL also states: we don't promise that it will be free of errors or suit every purpose. Test updates before you put them on a live site, and keep backups.

Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost sales or lost data. Otherwise our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that can't be limited by law, and nothing in them takes away rights you have as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and we update the date at the top when we do. A change applies to purchases and renewals made after it is published. If a change affects a Subscription you already have, we will email you before its next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario, sitting in Toronto. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts. Before going to court, please contact us: most problems are quicker to solve directly.
