Abstract

What PaddleSubs does, how the work is shared between Paddle and your site, what is in the package, and what your site needs.

About PaddleSubs

PaddleSubs lets you sell access to your Joomla site and take payment through Paddle Billing. A customer chooses a product on your site and pays in Paddle's checkout, and PaddleSubs gives their Joomla account access for the period they paid for. When that period ends, PaddleSubs takes the access away again, unless they have renewed.

PaddleSubs is an independent product. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Paddle, and Paddle is a trademark of Paddle.com Market Limited. Questions about PaddleSubs come to us; see the section called “Getting Support”.

Access in Joomla is given through user groups. You choose which groups each product adds a customer to, and everything in Joomla that already works with user groups (access levels on articles, menu items and modules, a forum's permissions, a download manager's rules) works with PaddleSubs without any change. PaddleSubs also has its own ways of protecting content inside an article, and of limiting a purchase to a number of sites.

With PaddleSubs you can:

  • sell products with as many prices as you like: paid once for a number of days, months or years, paid once for life, paid once until a fixed date, or billed automatically every period;

  • let a second purchase extend the time a customer already has, or start fresh;

  • group products into levels, such as Basic and Pro, and give every product of a level the same groups;

  • show prices in your visitor's currency, with estimated tax, anywhere in your content;

  • show or hide parts of an article depending on what a visitor has bought, or for how long they have had it;

  • sell software licensed per site, and let your software check its license through an API;

  • remind customers by email before access they paid for once runs out;

  • see sales and active customers on the dashboard;

  • bring customers and their purchases over from another subscription system, such as Akeeba Subscriptions.
