Step 1: Choose Where the Data Comes From
Go to → → .
-
Under Quick start: what are you importing from?, choose the old system, such as AkeebaSubs or PaddleSubs (another site running PaddleSubs, such as one connected to another Paddle account). Each choice is a ready-made mapping that says where that system keeps its users, products, prices and access. If your system isn't listed, choose Something else: I'll say where the data is; you then pick the tables and columns yourself, as described in the section called “Step 2: Say Where the Data Is”.
-
In Table prefix of the old system, enter the prefix its tables start with, such as
jch1_. For a Joomla site it is thedbprefixin itsconfiguration.php. Leave it empty if the tables have no prefix. -
Then either load a dump or connect to the database:
- From an SQL dump
-
Choose the file and click . The page says how large an upload your server accepts; for a larger dump, copy it into the
paddlesubs-importfolder inside your site'stmpfolder, choose it under Dumps on the server, and click . A dump holds your customers' data; see the section called “Where the Old Data Is Kept, and When It Is Deleted” for where it is kept and when it is deleted. - From a live database
-
Enter the Host, Port, Database name, User and Password, and click . Use an account that can only read. The login is kept for this import only, in your session, and is never saved.
A dump is loaded into temporary tables in your site's database, and only its table definitions and data are used: anything else in the file is left out, and the wizard lists what it skipped. With a preset, the wizard then shows how many users and access rows it found, and whether the source fits the mapping. If it doesn't (a wrong table prefix, or a version of the old system that keeps its data elsewhere), the wizard lists what is missing; click to adjust the preset in the mapping editor.
