Chapter 10. The Site Pages

Switching a Subscription's Price

Reached from Switch to this price on the product page, for logged-in customers. It says Your … subscription will move from … to …. and what Paddle will charge, asked from Paddle before anything changes: the amount charged to the subscription's payment method now for the rest of the current billing period or, for a cheaper price, that the difference is credited towards the next payments. Then the date and amount of the next payment. Confirm the switch changes the Paddle subscription, and the customer returns to My subscriptions; their access follows when Paddle's notifications about the change arrive. If the payment fails, Paddle leaves the subscription as it was. Switching to another product is done in Paddle.

A switch to a price with another billing interval, such as monthly to yearly, starts a new billing period at once: Paddle charges the new price in full and credits what is left of the current period. The access the old price gave then ends, and the new period's access starts straight away instead of after it. Access the customer bought on top, queued after the old period, moves up to start then, and the new period follows it.
