Appendix A. How PaddleSubs Handles Each Paddle Event

Paddle Subscriptions

subscription.created, subscription.updated

For licensed products, set the license's seats to the subscription's quantity of that product times the product's Sites per purchase, and move the subscription to a new license if it now buys another product. A renewal link that started the subscription attaches it to the license. Other products are not affected.

subscription.canceled

Detaches the subscription from its license. Access already paid for is kept.

subscription.activated, .paused, .resumed, .past_due, .trialing, .imported

Recorded; no action. A trial's access comes from its transaction, like any purchase. Pausing doesn't end access early; the charge Paddle makes on resuming buys a new period. A subscription past due after a failed payment keeps the access already paid for: each renewal grants its own period when it is paid, so if Paddle never collects it, access ends with the period paid for, and if a retry succeeds the renewal is granted as usual.
