Chapter 9. The Admin Pages

The Dashboard

The PaddleSubs Dashboard is a Joomla dashboard: you can add and remove its modules like any other. It starts with the menu of PaddleSubs pages and two modules: the Sales Graphs on the left, and on the right the menu's cards above the Statistics table, with the Copyright line, which gives the PaddleSubs version you run, at the foot of the shorter column. On a narrow screen they are one column, in the same order. These keep their places whatever their ordering in Content → Administrator Modules; a module you add goes below the graphs or the statistics, in the shorter column, before the copyright line. The copyright module also shows PaddleSubs' warnings on the dashboard, such as the offline mode notice and Webhooks are not working., so keep it published. The statistics and graphs are shown only to users with the View sales permission.

Statistics

A table with two columns, Subscriptions (how many sales) and Revenue (what they earned), for Last year (total), Last year to date, Year to date, Year to date trend, Last month, Month to date, Last 7 days, Yesterday and Today, with the Average day (this month) and a Projection for this month. Below them are the Total active subscribers and Total active subscriptions right now.

Sales Graphs

Sales Over Time and Sales By Products, between two dates (the last 30 days to start with), optionally for chosen products. Change the dates and click Reload Graphs.

What the Figures Mean

  • A sale is a completed Paddle transaction of your Paddle account that your site holds, dated when Paddle billed it. The figures follow the account, not the site: a sale another site made on the same Paddle account counts once Sync from Paddle on the Access Subscriptions page has brought its transaction in. Purchases imported from another subscription system have no Paddle transaction, so they are not sales.

  • The subscriptions a sale counts are the Access Subscriptions PaddleSubs made for it. For a sale it made none for, such as one from another site, each product the transaction bought a period of counts as one. A payment for the rest of a billing period, after a change to a Paddle subscription, earns money but counts no subscription.

  • Revenue is what Paddle pays you for the sale: after Paddle's fee and tax, and after refunds and credits once there are any. It is shown in your Paddle payout currency, whatever currency the customer paid in. When one transaction bought several products, its earnings are shared between them by what each line cost.

  • Active subscribers and subscriptions count published Access Subscriptions and their owners, including imported and granted ones.

Sales are read from Paddle and kept for up to six hours, so the dashboard opens quickly. Every transaction or adjustment webhook, and Sync from Paddle, clears what was kept. If Paddle can't be reached, the table says Sales figures are unavailable because Paddle could not be reached and still shows the active totals.
