Chapter 8. How-to Guides

Sell a Custom Deal by Invoice or Payment Link

For a price you agreed with one customer, which nobody else should see (see the section called “Custom Products and Prices”):

Procedure 8.2. Make the deal and send it
  1. Open the product in Components → PaddleSubs → Products, or create one for the deal. A deal that needs its own number of sites or its own groups needs a product of its own: set its Type on the Paddle tab to Custom.

  2. Add a price with the agreed amount and how long the access lasts, and set its Type to Custom. For an invoice, use USD, EUR or GBP. Click Save Price.

  3. Check that your site doesn't show it: the product's page lists only its standard prices, and a custom product has no page.

  4. In Transactions, click New Payment Link or Invoice. Choose the price. For an invoice, choose Invoice and fill in the customer's email address, country and, if Paddle asks for it, postal code, plus the business name and tax number if the deal is with a company, and the Days to Pay. For a payment link, the customer's email address is enough, or nothing at all.

  5. Click Create. Paddle emails an invoice at once. A payment link is shown with Copy: paste it into your message to the customer.

When the customer pays, their access appears on the Access Subscriptions page, under the account with their email address, which PaddleSubs creates if there is none. Until then the transaction is on the Transactions page. To withdraw an unpaid invoice, cancel it in Paddle's dashboard.

An invoice you create in Paddle's dashboard instead works too, but if you type its amount there rather than choosing one of your prices, Paddle makes a custom price PaddleSubs doesn't know. The purchase then waits on the Needs Attention page until you click Set Up Price.
