Chapter 11. Settings Reference
Every setting in PaddleSubs, grouped by where you find it: the component options, and the product, price, level and discount editors.
Settings live in five places:
| Where | Applies to | Section |
|---|---|---|
| The whole site | the section called “Component Options” | |
| The product editor | One product | the section called “Product Settings” |
| The price editor | One way of paying for a product | the section called “Price Settings” |
| The level editor | Every product of a level | the section called “Level Settings” |
| The discount editor | One discount | the section called “Discount Settings” |
Each entry says what the setting does, its default, and where it is Kept: on your site, in Paddle, or both. Settings kept in Paddle survive moving to a new site connected to the same Paddle account. The scheduled tasks' settings are in Scheduled Tasks Reference, and the plugins' and modules' in Chapter 12, Included Extensions.

Paddle Integrations
- Environment
-
Which Paddle account the site uses: Sandbox for testing, or Production for real sales. Everything PaddleSubs shows and does belongs to this environment; see the section called “Sandbox and Live Environments”.
- Sandbox API Key
-
The API key of your Paddle sandbox account, used while Environment is Sandbox. It is secret: never share it or put it in a page.
- Sandbox client side token
-
The client-side token of your sandbox account, which your pages use to show prices and open the checkout. It is meant to be seen by browsers.
- API Key
-
The API key of your live Paddle account, used while Environment is Production. Secret.
- Client side token
-
The client-side token of your live account.
- Offline Enabled
-
Stops PaddleSubs from calling Paddle, so you can browse the administrator pages while Paddle is unavailable. Usually turned on from the Paddle API unavailable page, or with on the Get Started page before you have a key. Importing is refused while it is on.
Webhooks
How your site accepts the webhooks Paddle sends. The secret key and the addresses are kept for each environment; the fields shown are those of the current Environment.
- Sandbox webhook secret key, Webhook secret key
-
The secret key of your notification destination in Paddle. Every webhook is checked against it and refused if it doesn't match. Secret: never share it.
- Sandbox webhook addresses, Webhook addresses
-
The IP addresses Paddle sends webhooks from, separated by commas or new lines; ranges and CIDR blocks are allowed. Webhooks from anywhere else are refused. Change it only if Paddle announces new addresses, or to add a relay that forwards Paddle's webhooks to your site. An empty field means Paddle's published addresses.
- Trusted proxies
-
The addresses of a proxy, load balancer or service such as Cloudflare in front of your site. When a webhook arrives through one of them, the address it forwards is the one checked. Leave it empty if your site isn't behind a proxy: an address trusted by mistake lets anyone claim to be Paddle's address, though the secret key still has to match.

- Site Address
-
The address of your site's home page, such as
https://www.example.com. Links in emails (set-password, claim, renewal and Billing Portal links, and the administrator's link to Needs Attention) are built from it, never from the address a visitor used: Joomla's scheduler can send emails during any visit, and a forged address would send customers' links to someone else's site. PaddleSubs fills it in the first time an administrator opens one of its pages, from the address used to sign in. Check it, and change it if your site moves to another address. When Joomla's$live_siteinconfiguration.phpis set, that is used instead.Until it is known, an email with links is not sent from a visit: it is tried again at a later run, after an administrator has opened a PaddleSubs page.
- Locale
-
The language whose conventions administrator pages and the Sales Graphs use to format numbers and amounts, such as
1,234.50or1.234,50. Empty means the administrator's language.Default: The administrator's languageKept: Your site - Custom date format
-
How dates are written in the administrator lists of Access Subscriptions and transactions, in PHP's date format:
Y-m-d H:igives2026-10-03 14:30,d/m/Ygives03/10/2026. Site pages use the date format of the visitor's language.Default:Y-m-d H:iKept: Your site - Show estimated tax
-
Prices on your pages are always shown before tax. With this on, two lines under each price add the tax Paddle estimates for the visitor's location and the total they would pay, such as “+ CA$19.37 estimated tax” and “CA$168.37 in total”; nothing is added where Paddle estimates no tax. Turn it off to show the price alone. The checkout always shows the exact tax.
- Discount codes at checkout
-
Shows the field where customers enter a discount code in Paddle's checkout. Paddle shows it only when Allow buyers to add a discount code is also on in → → , and accepts only discounts with a code that are enabled for checkout. Turn it off if you don't hand out codes; discounts PaddleSubs applies by itself, such as relation and bundle discounts, still apply.
- Local currencies at checkout
-
Whether Paddle's checkout can show customers prices in their local currency, which Paddle calls automatic currency conversion and sets in its currency settings. PaddleSubs can't read that setting from Paddle, so set this to match it. While it is on, every discount of a fixed amount carries a warning when you edit or save it, because Paddle applies a fixed amount only to checkouts in the discount's own currency (Discount Type and its amount). It changes nothing in the checkout itself.
- Load Bootstrap
-
Whether PaddleSubs loads its own copy of Bootstrap 5 on its site pages. Joomla's own templates load Bootstrap 5, so leave this off with them. Turn it on if your template doesn't, and the pages look unstyled. The copy styles only what is inside PaddleSubs' pages, so the rest of your site keeps its look. It loads before your template's styles, so the template can still change the pages.
Permissions
Who can do what in PaddleSubs, per user group: Joomla's actions for entering PaddleSubs and the catalog, and PaddleSubs' own (Assign user groups, Grant access, View sales, Charge customers, Manage customers, Manage licenses, Import from another system and the licensing API's), which only Super Users hold until you grant them. See the section called “Control Who Can Do What”.
